Historic racing seat opening!
July 12, 2006
Our friend (and the La Carrera Panamericana Historic Racing representitive for North America) Gerie Bledso has a new opening for co-pilot in his **enhanced** 1954 Stude.
Gerie is obviously quite experienced with driving La Carrera!
Here is a picture of the car. It will look much more sexy with some sponsor decals on it, and he is approachable about sponsorship and advertisers too!

Contact Gerie at Gbledso .. AT.. aol.com
Update:
Going … going … gone!
COOP is of of those guys that says “I wanna do this” and then surprisingly, 12 hours later, just puts it out there and DOES it.
The world would be a better place if it wasn’t full of “I wanna’s” and was full of COOPS.
Maybe COOP should be made into new slang for “I’m there.”
All the best to Gerie and COOP … keep your best wheel sideways!
(Why is La Carrera sponsored by Pfizer and not Depends for the young guys?)
Day 3 • Puebla to Querétaro
July 10, 2006
To be held Sunday, November 12th, 2006
After waking up in Puebla, we are in transit to Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez in Mexico City for a bit of mixing it up on the track as velocity section 1. The track, which has hosted Formula 1 in the past and now the CHAMP car and NASCAR Bush series, should be a lot of fun! It is a 2.786-Mile Permanent Road Course, and we will be driving it the morning of the CART race!

After the Autodromo, it is back to transit as we leave Mexico City and head for our next three velocity sections for the day.

Velocity section 2 will be a very fast velocity on brand new asphalt, as witnessed by our pre-run video.
Velocity section 3 will continue to test you flat out

And velocity section 4 will be back up into the hills for more technical driving.

All of the Velocity Videos of Day 3 can be seen by clicking here!

Day 2 • Oaxaca to Puebla
July 6, 2006
To be held Saturday, November 11th, 2006
Day two will be a hectic day of velocity sections. Six of them to be exact.

The day will start with a travel section headed north, away from Oaxaca, to the first velocity section. Hills and greenery lead to red clay and limestone dry lands and cactus valleys.

There will be fine winding up hills and fast down hills. WATCH OUT for your tight turns! Some may close up on you after you think that you have your wheel set!
Racing through the cactus fields will be amazing! Day 2 Velocity 6 will likely be the fastest of the race.

After the velocity sections, you can cool off with a wonderful scenic drive past pastoral towns, churches, and wonderful roadside attractions that you may have missed while you were at speed.

Lunch at Tehuacán

The town square at Tehuacán will be abuzz with La Carrera MANIA! Such a lovely place, too bad that we need to leave for the Shangri La that is the Crown Plaza Hotel in Puebla.

As fine a hotel as any found in the world, you may wish to establish a massage upon arrival or margarita while swimming in the pool!
Enjoy the evening, as there is a long transit stage in the morning to Mexico city… but not too much! The next day has a nice surprise in store!

Harper’s Magazine
July 5, 2006
There is a great article on La Carrera Panamericana in the July issue of Harper’s magazine. Jake Silverstein does a nice job in his 11 pages! (But then again Jake, the fact that support crews also race each other is supposed to stay in Mexico!)
Thanks to our pal Alex Roy at Team Polizei for informing us the article is now on stands!
If anyone knows where it is posted online, let us know and we will link to it for our friends that are abroad.
We will have another stage of La Carrera Panamericana blogged tomorrow!
