Temporary Car Importing for La Carrera Panamericana

TEMPORARY IMPORTING

This is to inform all participants of La Carrera Panamericana 2007 that the paperwork required for getting the temporary import permit for competitors crossing the US / México border with a trailer or transporter must be done through the FMADAC (México´s Motorsport Federation) in section:

• Importación Temporal (Temporary Import)
• For Rally Event Only

Fill the request format of temporary import and send to femadac@femadac.org.mx to the attention of Liz Anderson who will let you know all requirements.

Information related to the importation of your competing vehicle.

In order to comply with the necessary steps regarding the import permits and customs formalities, the Mexican Automobile Sport Federation (FEMADAC) is giving you some suggestions regarding as to how to obtain the legal temporary import permit.

To intern your vehicles into Mexico (competing automobile, trailer, van,) it is mandatory by Iaw to hire a Custom Agent and obtain from FEMADAC the temporary import permit, in order for the Customs Agent to issue the summary entry document.

The temporary import permit allows the driver to import in the competing vehicle, a certain amount of tools and spare parts. We recommend not to abuse the amount, use your criterion based on the type of event your are going to compete in.

The temporary import permit is issued and authorized by FEMADAC. In order to do so, it is necessary lo send a clear copy of the certificate of ownership of the vehicle, including license plates numbers and State, as we as a picture. It is necessary to obtain the sport license issued by FEMADAC.

The Mexican Automobile Sport Federation welcome you to this year´s edition of the la “Carrera Panamericana”, and we remind you that it is 100% your responsibility, the border crossing of the competing vehicle. At Iast we recommend, if you can, to use the Laredo, Texas border crossing to enter your vehicle into Mexico. This border is used by many competing automobiles.

It should send copy of the custom import document of temporary importing and it´s opportunity of the operation of export (return to foreign) to the FMADAC, in a not greater time limit of 15 days.

The procedure has a time limit from 8 to 10 work days.
