Here are some quick altitude references of the 2007 La Carrera Panamericana route. Some websites have slightly different altitudes listed for each city, so do not use this guide as reference in gambling … it is for sporting only!
Oaxaca: 5,000 feet
Tehuacán: 5,101 feet
Puebla: 7,091 feet
Mexico City: 7,400 feet (Put another way, about one and-a-half miles up in the sky!)
Querétaro: 6,026 feet
Morelia: 6,400 feet
Aguascalientes: 6,700 feet
Zacatecas: 8,200 feet
Nuevo Laredo: 561 feet
