About the Unlimited Class

The Unlimited Class at La Carrera Panamericana was formed in 2006 by childhood friends Kevin Ward and Bret Haller under the auspices of Eduardo León to allow modern production cars to race La Carrera Panamericana.

La Carrera Panamericana is the last great road race in existence. It is fully sanctioned by the Mexican government, Police, and Tourism board.

The Unlimited Class at La Carrera Panamericana 2008 will take place from October 24th thru October 30th. Unlimited Class modern vehicles will be a separate class griding along with 100 Historic race cars.

The approximate length will be 3,050 km. La Carrera Panamericana will be divided into seven legs over paved roads. The race consists of timed travel sections and unlimited velocity sections. Detailed information can be found in the “Application” section of this website.

The Unlimited Class consists of any production car manufactured after 1990. It will operate under the same rules and authority of La Carrera Panamericana Historic racing. There will be case by case exceptions made for some “super cars” such as the Ferrari Enzo, Mclaren F1, and Mercedes DTM in regard to roll cages, hood locks, and tow hooks.

In 2008, the Unlimited Class will be limited to twenty entrants, helping celebrate the 21st anniversary of La Carrera Panamericana.
