Insurance
To drive in Mexico you will need Mexican Auto Insurance. As La Carrera Panamericana is a race and rally, you will have different types of insurance policies for the event. (We are not insurance professionals, this information is only offered as a tertiary glimpse at what your insurance needs may be and is not represented as professional advisement.)

1. Limited liability insurance while in “velocity”, or racing stages. This is covered by your entry fee and FMAD license and is applicable only to circumstance that may occur while you are in an actual “velocity”, or race stage. It is advised that you raise the maximum limits of this policy from FMAD when you purchase your racing license. This policy does not cover your race vehicle when it is in “transit” sections of La Carrera Panamericana. This policy does not cover your physical race car, but is coverage for 3rd party incidents that may occur during “velocity” sections. These limits as provided are minimal, and should be raised at the participants discretion based on their personal liability concerns.
2. Liability insurance for your race vehicle and support vehicle(s) while in “transit” sections of the Rally. This is a standard policy issued for non-race environment driving while on public roads and is commonly available from a number of carriers. This policy is solely the responsibility of the participants and is mandatory. The policy limits should be raised at the participants discretion based on their personal liability concerns.

Here is a partial list of insurance companies that write liability policies for Mexico, provided solely to inform you of possible options and not in any way an endorsement of any of these companies.

As racing is an inherently dangerous event you may want to investigate the cost of having an Air Ambulance service that you are aware of. (No participant of the Unlimited Class has yet been involved in an accident or collision during La Carrera Panamericana, but planning for the unknown is always essential!)
