Vehicle Obligations
The Unlimited Class at La Carrera Panamericana is a Professional Race.
As such, your car will need the proper safety features.
An abridged version of the mandatory safety rules:
• The vehicle must be street legal and carry a valid registration. (Certain acceptions for track cars do apply- please ask!)
• 6 Point roll cage. You should be able to place a removable cage in your car that will not affect car value.
• Safety belts with five points (minimum width is 3”)
• Lateral safety nets, fixed to the roll cage or bodywork.
• We strongly recommend the Hans device for head and neck protection.

• Hood pins or belts are mandatory on all cars, fitted to bonnet (hood) and boot (trunk)
• Operative headlamps must be on during the entire event.
• Operative intermittent emergency lights, horn, turn lights, front and back and stop lights.

• For all competitors (driver and co-driver) mandatory use of helmet complying with the following specification as a minimum: Snell 2000-SA or BS6658-85 A/FR type or SFI 31.1 A or SFI 31.2 No motorcycle homologated SM helmets are allowed.
• The use of overall fire resistant clothing (nomex) is mandatory for all competitors and must be used
during the entire competition.

• It is our opinion that La Carrera Panamericana can be run with a minimum of 4 inches ground clearance (relying on a skid plate), but 5 inches or more is recommended.
• It is recommended that you use a mechanical or electronic distance meter (Halda, Terra Trip, or similar) calibrated in kilometers (1,000 m.) since all instructions in the route book for the event are in the metric system.
