The management of La Carrera has directed us to remind you that the deadline for payment of the discounted fee is March 31. The price jumps up $500 on April 1.

Mr. Eduardo Leon, the promoter of the event, says that this deadline will be strictly enforced. If your check arrives after March 31, you will be required to pay another $500, and your entry will not be accepted until the full amount is in their bank.

**PHOTOS

Your entry cannot be completed until we have your photos and one of your racecar. Please send digital photos, if possible. Just about any digital shot is OK. Your blood type and Rh factor are also critical information.

**DIRECT REGISTRATION

You may also register on line at www.lacarrerapanamericana.com.mx. Click on the U.S. flag for English, and then go to registration. Have your digital photos ready to upload, too. You may also sign up for hotel rooms on line.

**RULES AND REGULATIONS

Please note that, when you register for the race, you are agreeing to abide by the Rules of the event, which are posted on the web site listed above. You should review these rules.

**HOTELS

As usual, no information is being made available about the hotels, except for prices. One double room is included in your entry fee. An extra hotel room for the eight nights of the event (23-30 Oct.) will cost $1200. If you arrive in Tuxtla Gutierrez early and want a room, it will cost you $150 a night.

If you are interested in the luxury hotels, there will be four this year. The cost is $150 extra per night, or $600. The hotels are in Oaxaca, Queretaro, San Luis de Potosi, and Zacatecas. The famous “bullring” hotel, the Quinta Real in Zac, is one of the four, along with the Camino Real in Oaxaca. They will fill up fast.

You may reserve your rooms by emailing monica.grossmann@yahoo.com.mx.

Please remember that once you make a reservation and send in payment, you cannot get a refund and cannot transfer the room to anyone else, according to Monica Grossman de Leon. She will try to let you know about you hotels one week before the race, she says.

**COYOTE CONVOY

If you plan to drive down with the Coyote Convoy from Texas to the start of the race in Tuxtla Gutierrez, or even think you might want to do that, please let the North American Coordinator (gbledso@aol.com) know. There will be a separate mailing list for the convoy. Right now the expedition looks like this:

Oct. 17 – 9:00 PM — rendezvous in Laredo, Texas (site TBA)
Oct. 18 – 6:00 AM — drive to San Miguel de Allende (590 miles)
Fund-raising gala, plus fiesta in the Z Club, Hotel Refugio
Oct. 19 – Carrera car show in the main square
Oct. 20 – drive around Mexico City to Minatitlan (600+ miles)
Oct. 21 – 10 AM – arrive in Tuxtla Gutierrez (150 miles)

The Convoy and the car show(s) Concurso de Motor Sports in San Miguel de Allende are designed to raise money for children and families. You need not be registered for the race to participate in the festivities in San Miguel. Anyone, especially if you have a cool car, is invited.

If you cannot participate in the activities in San Miguel, you may make a donation of money or an item to for an auction or raffle. Make your checks out to “CASA.” The donation is tax deductible. The convoy will also take school supplies and other gifts to orphans in Tuxtla Gutierrez.

Viva la Carrera!
